MIDLAND Shandon Herrera shined at the plate and on the mound to help the Odessa High baseball team grab a 2-1 victory over Midland Lee in a District 2-6A contest Friday at Ernie Johnson Field.
Herrera pitched seven innings, allowed one run on three hits and struck out six for the Bronchos (14-7 overall, 4-1 District 2-6A).
Herrera was in his second at-bat when Johnny Rodriguez scored the tying run on a wild pitch from Gunnar Blevins and later in that sequence he hit the game-winning RBI single to left field.
For the Rebels (6-12, 3-2), John Wuthrich hit a solo home run to right field.
