Jan. 1 Odessa police arrested 38-year-old Gus Alejandro Casas and charged him with theft of property with at least two previous convictions, a state jail felony. Officers responded at 4 p.m. Jan. 1 to Target, 3909 E. 42nd St., in reference to a shoplifter. Police made contact with the suspect, identified as Casas, and investigation revealed he exited the store with about $118 worth of merchandise without making any attempt to pay. Further investigation revealed Casas had three previous theft convictions. Casas, 11720 Canary Palm Court, El Paso, was being held Jan. 5 at the Ector County Detention Center on $7,500 bond.
