Jan. 30 Odessa police arrested 30-year-old Gumaro Ponce and charged him with possession of a controlled substance (cocaine), a state jail felony; and driving while intoxicated, a class B misdemeanor. Officers pulled over a black 2014 Ford F-250, driven by Ponce, in the 2500 block of Golder Avenue at 12:04 a.m. Jan. 30. Police made contact with Ponce and could smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath. Officers also found Ponce to be in possession of cocaine. Ponce, 1308 W. Amburgey Ave., was released Jan. 30 from the Ector County Detention Center on $8,000 bond.
