March 25 Odessa police arrested 41-year-old Gregory Chavez-Castillo and charged him with possession of a controlled substance (cocaine), a third-degree felony. Officers pulled over a black 2014 GMC Sierra, driven by Chavez-Castillo, in the 1000 block of North Dixie Boulevard at 5 p.m. March 25. Police made contact with Chavez-Castillo and could smell a very strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. Officers searched the vehicle and found more than one gram of cocaine and about 5.3 grams of marijuana. Chavez-Castillo, 931 E. 12th St., was released March 26 from the Ector County Detention Center on $15,500 bond.
