Danika Detlaff

April 6 Odessa police arrested 32-year-old Danika Detlaff and charged her with injury to a child (family violence), a third-degree felony. Officers responded on April 5 to a local school in reference to possible child abuse. School personnel reported that a 9-year-old boy had numerous bruises on his body. Investigation revealed that the child had been in trouble the previous day for misbehavior at school. Upon arriving at home, the child was grounded and told to go to his room by his aunt, identified as Detlaff. After the child was found playing with legos on two occasions, Detlaff struck the boy with a belt several times. The child sustained bruising to his back area and arms. Based on the facts and circumstances presented during the investigation, detectives obtained a warrant for Detlaff. Officers located and arrested her in the 400 block of East 48th Street at 10 am. April 6. Detlaff, 417 E. 48th St., was released April 7 from the Ector County Detention Center on $15,000 bond.
