Company helps supply food bank

The annual Souper Bowl of Caring food drive raised a total of 113,796 pounds of food for the West Texas Food Bank, The United Family announced Tuesday.
The company’s goal was to raise 100,000 pounds of food.
During the food drive, guests were able to purchase pre-packaged bags of food for $8 or make a monetary donation during check out at any Market Street or Albertsons Market location. The total funds donated totaled $60,644 and is equivalent to 113,796 pounds of food, which will be donated to the West Texas Food Bank. The United Family donated an additional $10,000 to the food bank, as well.
The Souper Bowl of Caring Food Drive is a nationwide effort to eliminate hunger in local communities. Proceeds collected throughout Midland and Odessa during the campaign will directly benefit the West Texas Food Bank in the coming weeks.
