COLLEGE TENNIS: First postseason trip ends for UTPB against Midwestern State

WICHITA FALLS The UTPB men’s tennis team’s first foray into postseason play ended with a 4-1 loss Sunday to No. 20 Midwestern State in the first round of the South Central Regional of the NCAA Division II men’s tournament at the MSU Tennis Center.

The Mustangs (19-5) clinched the doubles point with a pair of 6-1 victories, and then won three of the four completed singles matches to secure the outcome. Midwestern State’s Angel Palacios defeated UTPB’s Raul Stevens 6-4, 6-4 at No. 1 singles to close out the match.

The Falcons (12-10) picked up their point at No. 6 singles as Fernando Siqueira defeated Jean Muniz 6-4, 6-1.
