COLLEGE BASEBALL: Wranglers split pair to open season

HOUSTON The Odessa College baseball team won its Tournament of Champions opener in extra innings on Friday before falling to the tournament host.

The Wranglers (1-1) pulled out a 4-3 win over Navarro College in 10 innings, then dropped a contest to San Jacinto College-North 8-1.

Designated hitter Angel Torres went 2 for 5 at the plate with a triple and an RBI in the victory over Navarro.

Catcher Mitch Holding drove in the lone run in the loss with an RBI single to score Masen Hibbeler.

The Wranglers will play against Galveston College at 11 a.m. today.
