Boy, 16, accused of assaulting OHS assistant principal

A 16-year-old Odessa High School student was arrested by school district police Thursday after reportedly slamming the assistant principal to the floor and punching him during a fight the official tried breaking up, a spokesman said.
The boy whose name was not released because of his age was arrested by Ector County Independent School District officers on a second-degree felony charge of aggravated assault of a public servant. The boy was taken to the Ector County Youth Center, ECISD spokesman Mike Adkins said.
OHS Assistant Principal Mark Crissinger suffered injuries for which he was taken to a hospital and was later treated and released. Crissinger tried breaking up a fight when the boy turned on him and reportedly launched his attack, Adkins said.
Adkins said he could not detail what punitive measure the ECISD could take against the boy but said the district would go for the fullest punishment available, which could include expulsion.
