Jan. 1 Odessa police arrested 25-year-old Ashley Stafford and charged her with possession of a controlled substance, a second-degree felony; and possession of marijuana, a class B misdemeanor. Police also arrested 23-year-old Christopher Johnson and charged him with possession of a controlled substance, a second-degree felony; and possession of marijuana, a class B misdemeanor. Officers pulled over a tan 2008 Jaguar, driven by Stafford, at 1:04 p.m. Jan. 1 in the 5000 block of East Highway 80. Police made contact with Stafford and could smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. Officers searched the vehicle and found marijuana and four hard candies called Kush Ranchero, which contained 25mg of THC. Police also found a package of gummies called Edipure Rasta Fish, with each gummy fish containing 10mg of THC. The total weight of the hard candy and gummies was about 74.3 grams. After Stafford was placed into custody, a man, identified as Johnson, approached officers and told them he eats the candies infused with THC when he runs out of marijuana. Police found Johnson to be in possession of about four grams of marijuana. Stafford, 532 W. Winery Ave., Fresno, Calif., was being held Jan. 5 at the Ector County Detention Center on $25,500 bond.
