Anika Gundlapalli, 12, competes in the 40th Annual Spelling Bee Saturday in Permian High School’s theater hall. Gundlapalli would go on to win the regional spelling bee for the third straight year after spelling the word "respell" to defeat her younger brother Ajay Gundlapalli. Gundlapalli, a seventh-grader at Nimitz Middle School, earned the chance to represent the region at the Scripps National Spelling Bee in May in Washington D.C..
