Elise Jones, 10, handles a rainbow trout after reeling it in at the annual Take Me Fishing event Saturday at the Comanche Trail Park Pond. The event is put on by the Odessa Parks and Recreation Department. Children played games, won prizes and competed to catch the biggest fish in the pond. Texas Parks and Wildlife was there to teach the basics of traditional fishing, such as tying the hook on to the line, casting a spincasting reel, identifying fish and demonstrating how to be a safe and responsible angler. Children under 17 years of age were not required to have a fishing license. The event was free and open to the public.
