The UTPB women’s soccer team picked up its first Lone Star Conference victory of the season Wednesday, defeating Eastern New Mexico 1-0 at Falcon Field.
It was also the team’s first conference win under head coach Lynsey Winkler.
Although the Greyhounds took more shots than the Falcons, UTPB had more shots on goal throughout the contest with eight.
Both teams’ goalkeepers had seven saves each and the score was tied at 0-0 for a large majority of the contest until the 85th minute.
Lexie Gilley was able to get a shot past the Eastern New Mexico keeper to put the Falcons up 1-0 and that score held up to the end of the match.
UTPB improved to 2-12 overall and 1-8 in conference play, and they will play St. Mary’s at 3 p.m. Saturday in San Antonio.
