WOMEN’S COLLEGE BASKETBALL: Odessa College rolls past NMJC, keeps pace in WJCAC race

HOBBS, N.M. The Odessa College Lady Wranglers kept pace in the WJCAC women’s basketball race Thursday with a 72-50 victory at New Mexico Junior College.

Kamryn Lemon had 18 points and seven rebounds for the Lady Wranglers (15-4 overall, 5-1 WJCAC), who remained tied for second in the conference standings with Midland College and a game back of South Plains College.

Odessa College visits South Plains on Monday.

Amanda Soderqvist and Dyana Offutt each scored 12 points for Odessa College. The Lady Wranglers finished with a 51-27 rebounding advantage, grabbing 21 offensive boards. Okako Adika and Geovana Lopes each had eight rebounds to lead the team.

New Mexico Junior College (16-4, 4-2) was led by Thamires Andrade with 14 points and Amaya Lewis with 12.

Odessa College scored the game’s first nine points and never trailed. The Lady Wranglers led by as much as 26 points early in the fourth quarter.
