BIG SPRING The Odessa College Lady Wranglers moved within a game of a berth in the NJCAA Region 5 tournament by defeating Howard College 65-49 Monday in WJCAC action.
The Lady Wranglers (18-8 overall, 6-5 WJCAC) took a two-game lead on Howard (15-14, 5-8) for fourth place in the conference standings. Odessa College trails third-place Midland College by a game and second-place Frank Phillips College by two games with three games left.
Leticia Soares scored 23 points and Chinna Fair scored 20 to lead Odessa College. Tanaka Gapare had a double-double with 10 points and 15 rebounds. Corbyn Cunningham led Howard with 20 points, while Kaki Simpson added 12.
