MIDLAND In 29 games in the first half of the Texas League season, the Midland RockHounds were undefeated when holding a lead after eight innings.
That impressive streak came to an end in the opener of the second half with a 4-3 loss to the Frisco RoughRiders on Tuesday night at Security Bank Ballpark.
Midland (33-37 overall) took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third after an RBI triple by Brett Siddall and an RBI single by Edwin Diaz.
The RoughRiders tied the game after scoring one run in the fifth on a groundout to first by Michael O’Neill and an RBI single by Destin Hood in the sixth.
Eli White then drove in Richie Martin in the bottom of the eighth on a grounder to shortstop to put Midland back on top, 3-2.
Frisco (25-46) tied up the game on an RBI single by Hood. The run that ended up sealing the victory for the RoughRiders was scored on a wild pitch.
Seth Brown led Midland going, 2 for 4 with a double. Trey Cochran-Gill (1-1) suffered the loss after allowing four hits and two earned runs in two innings.
Norge Ruiz tossed a solid no-decision in seven innings, allowing two earned runs on seven hits with three strikeouts.
