TEXAS LEAGUE BASEBALL: RockHounds win on White’s walk-off single

MIDLAND Mikey White singled in Luis Barrera with the winning run in the ninth inning Friday as the Midland RockHounds defeated the Frisco RoughRiders 3-2 in Texas League action at Secutrity Bank Ballpark.

The RockHounds ran their winning streak to four games to pull within 2½ games of Frisco in the South Division.

Barrera, who scored all three Midland runs, went 3 for 5 with two triples. White, who drove in two runs, and Nate Mondou both finished 2 for 4.

Cody Stull (1-1) retired all six batters he faced to get the win.

Midland took a 2-0 lead on Tyler Ramirez’s sacrifice fly in the first and White’s RBI single in the third. Barrera led off the first with a single, stole second and moved up on a groundout, then tripled with two outs in the third.

Frisco pulled even on Andretty Cordero’s home run in the fourth and Chuck Moorman’s sacrifice fly in the seventh.

The RockHounds missed a chance to take the lead in the eighth when Frisco reliever C.D. Pelham walked the bases loaded with no outs. Yoel Espinal (1-3) came on and got out of the jam, but couldn’t escape the ninth.

In the ninth, Barrera tripled with two outs and White grounded the winning hit to left.

The series continues at 7 p.m. Saturday at Security Bank Ballpark.
