TEXAS LEAGUE BASEBALL: RockHounds slip past Hooks

MIDLAND Collin Theroux homered and Dairon Blanco hit a decisive two-run double Wednesday as the Midland RockHounds beat the Corpus Christi Hooks 4-2 in Texas League action at Security Bank Ballpark.

Matt Milburn (2-3) pitched 6.2 solid innings, holding Corpus Christi to two runs on six hits. He struck out two and walked none.

Zack Erwin got the final seven outs for his first save, striking out five of eight batters faced.

Theroux connected off Hooks starter Brandon Bailey (0-2) in the first inning to put Midland in front to stay. Edwin Diaz added an RBI double in the fifth. Blanco, who was 2 for 2, doubled with the bases loaded in the sixth to make it 4-1.

Corpus Christi got on the board with RBI singles from Osvaldo Duarte in the sixth and Ronnie Dawson in the seventh. Duarte went 2 for 4 and Stephen Wrenn, who tripled leading off the sixth, went 2 for 3 for the Hooks.

The teams wrap up the series at 7 p.m. Thursday before Amarillo visits for a three-game weekend series.
