TEXAS LEAGUE BASEBALL: RockHounds push win streak to five, close gap on RoughRiders

MIDLAND Matt Milburn pitched eighth strong innings and Greg Deichmanm homered Saturday as the Midland RockHounds beat the Frisco RoughRiders 3-1 in Texas League action at Security Bank Ballpark.
Midland has won five in a row, the last three against Frisco, to close to within 1½ games of first place in the South Division.
Milburn (3-4) struck out six and allowed on unearned run on eight hits to get the win. Zack Erwin pitched the ninth for his second save.
All three midland runs came in the third off Frisco starter Tyler Phillips (0-4).
Deichmann led off the inning with his seventh home run. Edwin Diaz, who went 2 for 3, singled and Luis Barrera tripled with one out. Mikey White added a sacrifice fly.
Frisco’s run came in the seventh when Michael De Leon doubled to drive in Josh Altmann, who reached on an error.
De Leon and Preston Beck both went 2 for 4 for Frisco.
The series finale is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday with Midland looking for a four-game sweep.
