TEXAS LEAGUE BASEBALL: Midland drops series finale to Amarillo

MIDLAND Amarillo scored two runs in the top of the ninth inning Sunday to defeat the Midland RockHounds 4-2 in the rubber game of their Texas League series at Security Bank Ballpark.

Midland committed four errors in the loss, the last on the play where the deciding runs scored. With runners at first and second and two outs in a 2-2 game, Amarillo’s Rodrigo Orozco singled to right and the ball got past Midland’s Greg Deichmann, allowing both runs to score.

Amarillo took a 2-0 lead in the first on Owen Miller’s RBI single and Kyle Overstreet’s run-scoring force-out. The RockHounds got on the board on Luis Barrera’s RBI single in the third and pulled even in the sixth when Brallan Perez hit into a double play with runners at the corners.

Amarillo’s Travis Radke (3-1) retired all nine batters he faced for the win. Midland’s John Gorman (3-3) was charged with one earned run on two hits in one inning of work.

Amarillo’s Edward Olivares went 4 for 4 with a double, while Ivan Castillo and Webster Rivas each had two hits. Chase Calabuig, who doubled, Barrera and Nate Mondou all went 2 for 4 for Midland.
