NORTH AMERICAN HOCKEY LEAGUE: Jackalopes top Pilots in shootout

TOPEKA, Kan. Zach Heintz scored two goals Sunday as the Odessa Jackalopes defeated the Topeka Pilots 3-2 in a shootout at the Kansas Expocentre.

The Jackalopes, who lost Friday and Saturday to the Pilots, trailed 1-0 after the first period Sunday before Heintz scored twice in the second period. Topeka (17-17-2 overall) pulled even in the third period before the teams played a scoreless overtime. Odessa (14-21-1) scored the only goal of the shootout.

Odessa returns home to host the Lone Star Brahmas on Friday and Saturday at Ector County Coliseum.
