MINOR LEAGUE BASEBALL: RockHounds defeat San Antonio 5-3 to close out home series

MIDLAND Timely hits from Jonah Bride helped the Midland RockHounds pick up a 5-3 victory over the San Antonio Missions Sunday at Momentum Bank Ballpark.

The infielder went 3 for 3 at bat and brought in four runners to even the home series with the Missions.

An early two-run homer from Bride gave Midland a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, an advantage that held until the top of the next frame when Olivier Basabe hit an RBI single to make the score 2-1.

An RBI double from Bride in the bottom of ty the fifth gave the RockHounds a 4-1 lead, then Allen Cordoba hit a two-run home run to cut the deficit to 4-3 for the Missions.

Jhonny Santos then sealed the win for Midland in the bottom of the seventh with a solo homer to left field.

The RockHounds will start their next home series against the Amarillo Sod Poodles at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Momentum Bank Ballpark.
