MINOR LEAGUE BASEBALL: Midland rallies past Amarillo in final inning

The Midland RockHounds closed out its 12-game home stand with a ninth-inning rally as they defeated the Amarillo Sod Poodles 3-2 Sunday at Momentum Bank Ballpark.

Midland (47-49 overall) trailed Amarillo 2-1 entering the bottom of the ninth inning before Logan Davidson tied the game with an RBI single followed by Edwin Diaz’s walk-off RBI single two batters later.

Montana DuRapau earned the victory after pitching a scoreless ninth inning for Midland. Ty Damron also had a solid start for the RockHounds by allowing one run on eight hits and striking out four in six innings.

The RockHounds’ victory also salvaged a series split with the Sod Poodles (43-54).

Midland is off Monday before starting a six-game series against the San Antonio Missions at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday at Wolff Stadium in San Antonio.
