MEN’S COLLEGE BASKETBALL: Adam Rivera joins Falcons

UTPB men’s basketball coach Josh Newman announced his first addition to his 2018-19 men’s basketball team, sophomore Adam Rivera.

Rivera, a 6-foot-7, 200-pound forward out of Amarillo High, played under Newman for one season at Arkansas-Fort Smith. Rivera averaged 7.6 points and 4.2 rebounds per game in his one season with the Lions. He ranked third on UAFS with 31 3-pointers while shooting 39 percent from 3-point range on the season. Rivera scored in double figures 13 times with a season-high 19 points on 7-10 shooting from the field on the road at Dallas Baptist.

“We are thrilled that Adam has decided to join us at UTPB,” Newman said. “He is a tremendous young man that will help us establish our basketball culture. Adam’s versatility and offensive skill set will translate well to the Lone Star Conference. We excited that Adam is returning to West Texas and is our first signee to the Falcon family.”
