The Odessa Jackalopes were looking to extend their season.

Instead, they are making plans to return home.

Lone Star scored twice in the first period, which proved to be more than enough as the Brahmas skated away to a 4-1 victory in Game 3 of the North American Hockey League’s South Division playoffs Friday at Ector County Coliseum.

The victory clinched the best-of-5 series, 3-0, and moved the defending Robertson Cup champions into the division finals against the winner of the Shreveport-Corpus Christi series.

Blake Bride scored Odessa’s only goal, beating Lone Star goaltender Mitchell Gibson with 3:54 to play in the game.

Once they had the lead after 20 minutes, the Brahmas clamped down defensively, allowing the Jackalopes just two shots in the second period, while extending the lead to 3-0.
