NORTH AMERICAN HOCKEY LEAGUE: Jackalopes facing playoff elimination

The Odessa Jackalopes are now one game away from being eliminated from the North American Hockey League playoffs, falling 2-1 to the Lone Star Brahmas Saturday.

Lone Star takes a 2-0 series lead with the victory. Odessa needs to sweep the next three games in the best-of-5 series to advance.

The Jackalopes only had 19 shots on goal Saturday, compared to the Brahmas 35 shots, 33 of which Odessa goaltender Brett Epp stopped. Evan Somoza scored the Jackalopes’ lone goal of the game early in the third period.

Puck drop of Game 3 of the playoff series is scheduled for 7:11 p.m. Friday at Ector County Coliseum. If Odessa wins that contest, game 4 would be Saturday at the same time.
