The Permian girls track and field team won the 2018 Area 6A District 1 and 2 meet Thursday and Friday at Franklin High School with 96.5 total points.

Permian qualified all three relays for the regional meet as well as four individuals. To highlight the meet, Tyranique Harris placed first in the 200-meter dash, while Taylor Vuelvas won the discus competition.

The Odessa High Lady Bronchos had a small contingency, but Hattie Green took fourth in the shot put to advance. Relaya Hernandez also heads to regionals finished second in the 400-meter dash.

In the boys competition, Permian’s Peyton Powell qualified for regionals in both the high jump and the 100-meter dash. Rakeeb Adeyemi placed second in the long jump.

As a team, Permian finished ninth with 29 points. Amarillo Tascosa won the meet with 130 points.

Odessa High’s Dawson Hayes finished tied for second in the pole vault, while Alex Perales placed third in the 300-meter hurdles.

Those athletes will advance on to the Region I-6A Meet this weekend at the University of Texas at Arlington’s Maverick Stadium.
