HIGH SCHOOL GOLF: Chavez closes out high school career at state

GEORGETOWN Permian senior Jaden Chavez closed out his high school career with an even-par round of 72 during the final round of the UIL Class 6A State Golf Tournament Tuesday at Legacy Hills Golf Club.
Chavez finished with a two-day total of 149, finishing in a tie for 26th with four other golfers.
He bounced back from a 3-over start through the first five holes, shooting 3-under par over the final 13 holes.
David Harrison of Trophy Club Byron Nelson fired the low round of the tournament with a 66 Tuesday, but lost a playoff to Thomas Bockholt (71-68—139) of Austin Westlake for the individual title.
Westlake I (289-276—565) took home the team title by 20 shots over runner-up Austin Vandegrift (296-289—585).
