HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Seminole head coach Kent Jackson announces retirement

SEMINOLE The Seminole Indians will be looking for a new head football coach in 2019 after Kent Jackson announced his retirement Friday.

Jackson spent the last five years as head coach, compiling a 34-25 record over that span.

The Indians finished 7-4 in 2018 and advanced to the area round Class 4A Division I playoffs.

Jackson has coached at Lubbock Coronado, Sweetwater and as an assistant coach at Odessa High.

He said that he wasn’t planning on retiring but that other opportunities came up and he wanted to pursue them.

“It has been an incredible 33 year ride and I have been blessed beyond measure through the relationships built with kids and coaches,” Jackson said. “Getting to serve in my hometown has certainly been the thrill of a lifetime and I am forever grateful.”
