The Monahans-Wickett-Pyote ISD selection committee will present former Amarillo High head coach Mel Maxfield for consideration as its new athletic director and head football coach at a special board of trustees meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday in the board room of the school district’s administration building.

The public is invited to attend the meeting to confirm Maxfield, who has compiled a 239-114-1 record as a head coach with Amarillo High, Burleson High School and Forney High School.

A 1982 graduate of Texas A&M-Commerce, Maxfield has seen success using a Wing-T offense similar to the one the Loboes used under former head coach Mickey Owens, who stepped down in January.
