HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: Odessa High’s coach Dees resigns

Odessa High boys basketball coach Anthony Dees confirmed Wednesday that he has resigned his position and will be leaving the school.
Dees, who coached the Bronchos for one season after three years as an assistant coach with the program, will become an assistant coach at Waxahachie High School.
The Bronchos finished 8-25 in Dees’ only season at the helm.
He was the fourth coach in as many years for Odessa High, following Matt Jackson, Nate Bridges and Jance Morris.
It was Morris’ move into administration that opened the door for Dees to move in the top spot.
“Being at Odessa High these last four years has been a phenomenal experience,” Dees said. “I started here as a substitute teacher and worked my way up to being a teacher, lead assistant coach and then a head coach.
“There are a lot of people that have helped guide me and I’m just so thankful for each one of them.”
Odessa High now is search for boys and girls basketball coaches after Lady Bronchos head coach Olivia Pyburn resigned earlier this month.
