GIRLS HIGH SCHOOL GOLF: Corralez earns top 20 finish at state

AUSTIN Van Horn’s Annika Corralez finished tied for 18th overall at the UIL Class 2A Girls State Golf Championships Tuesday at the Roy Kizer Golf Course.
After opening with a 93 Monday, Corralez shot an 86 for a seven-shot improvement. She tied with Haskell’s Braelyn Bevel (96-83—187) to finish in the Top 20.
Martin’s Mill’s Mia Nixon was overall individual champion with a total score of 142 while Stratford’s Katelin Berry was second at 147. Berry was the individual champion from Region I back in April at Ratliff Ranch Golf Links.
Grapeland took the team title with a total of 649, beating out runner-up Martin’s Mill (335-334—669) and third-place finisher Normangee (361-370—731).
