MARBLE FALLS After the first round of the Class 4A girls golf state championship Monday at Slick Rock Golf Course at Horseshoe Bay, Andrews tallied a team score of 317 to hold a 21-shot lead over Abilene Wylie for first place.
Individually, Andrews’ Rachel Huffman is in third place after carding a 73, sitting one shot behind Abilene Wylie’s Maddi Olson. Carrollton Ranchview’s Bohyun Park is in first place after a first-round 67.
Andrews’ Kinzee McAllister is in a three-way tie for eighth with a score of 80.
Seminole sits in fourth place, 15 shots behind third-place Frisco Lebanon Trail, which shot a team score of 342.
Seminole’s Alyssa Garcia is tied alongside Andrews’ Skyler Strube for 11th place with a score of 81.
In Class 3A competition at Grey Rock Golf Course in Austin, Alpine’s Morgan Molsbee sits tied for ninth place with a first round score of 89.
Wink’s Sarah Turnbo carded a score of 84 to put herself in 11th place in the Class 2A state tournament at Roy Kizer Golf Course in Austin.
