MIDLAND The Permian girls basketball team opened District 2-6A play with a victory Friday night, downing Midland Lee 48-40.
Jessica Nguyen led the way for the Lady Panthers, scoring a game-high 17 points. Ta’Quasha Lynch added another 14 as Permian moved to 10-9 overall and 1-0 in district.
Permian trailed 34-33 going into the fourth quarter, but outscored Midland Lee 15-6 in the final frame to down the Lady Rebels (12-5, 0-1).
The Lady Panthers will return to the court Tuesday, when they play at Midland High.
