MIDLAND The Permian boys soccer team never led in regulation, but found a way to earn two points in its District 2-6A opener.

The Panthers defeated Midland High on penalty kicks 5-4 after tying with three goals apiece in the game’s first 80 minutes at Grande Communications Stadium.

Aiden Everett scored two of Permian’s goals with Wyatt Mata adding the other. Isaac Herrera slotted home the game-winning penalty kick for the Panthers.

Permian’s overall record now stands at 7-6-1 after the victory.
