BOYS SOCCER: Odessa High wins first game of season over Abilene High as Cordova nets hat trick

ABILENE The Odessa High boys soccer team won its first game of the season Tuesday, taking down Abilene High 5-2 at Shotwell Stadium.

Bronchos’ sophomore midfielder Cain Cordova scored a hat trick to lead the team. The other Odessa High (1-3-0) goals were scored by Jose Leyva and Nana Prempeh.

Odessa High senior Luis Ortega started at goalkeeper in the game, after primarily playing outside of the net during the last two seasons.

The Bronchos return to action 8 p.m. Thursday in their first game of the President’s Cup tournament as they take on El Paso Socorro at Midland Lee High School.
