HIGH SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL: Area teams to take the court at Monahans Tournament

The Odessa High, Permian and Compass Academy volleyball teams will take the court for their first tournaments of the season as the teams head to Monahans to compete in the 47th Monahans Tournament.

The 20-team tournament begins with pool play Friday at the Jerry Larned Sports Complex and the Ward County Event Center.

Permian will complete in Pool B along with Fort Stockton, Greenwood, Crane and El Paso Bowie. Odessa High is in Pool D with Alpine, Big Spring, Amarillo Caprock and El Paso Chapin.

Compass Academy is in Pool A along with host Monahans, Presidio, Fabens and Canutillo.
Odessa High and Permian will begin play at 8 a.m. Friday at the Ward County Events Center while Compass will play its matches starting at 8 a.m. at the Jerry Larned Sports Complex.
