HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL: Odessa High falls in series opener to Boswell

The Odessa High softball team finds itself in a deficit after falling 5-2 to Fort Worth Boswell in Game 1 of a Class 6A area round series Friday at Cooper’s Lady Cougar Field.

The Lady Bronchos (21-9 overall) fell behind 2-0 after one inning thanks to RBI singles by Boswell’s Emma Robertson and Malia Jones, before pulling even in the fourth inning with Nivea Saenz’s two-run triple.

The Lady Pioneers (25-4) got a run in the fifth inning before pulling away in the top of the seventh thanks to a two-run double by Santrea Armstead.

The series continues with Game 2 at 11 a.m. Saturday back at Lady Cougar Field.
