HIGH SCHOOL GOLF: Permian’s Williams earns medalist honors

The Wolfforth Frenship boys golf team carded a 6-over-par 294 in the second round to win the West Texas Boys Classic Saturday at Ratliff Ranch Golf Links.

The Tigers finished the two-day event at 599 (305-294), with Midland Legacy I in second at 307-306—613 and Lubbock Coronado third (319-309—628).

Permian I finished seventh at 646 (327-319), Permian II (358-355—713) was 14th and Odessa High (361-353—714) was 15th.

Chase Williams of Permian was the individual medalist, finishing 7-under par (69-68—137), six shots better than Preston Defriend of Lubbock Coronado (72-71—143) and seven in front of Wolfforth Frenship’s Hunter Welch (71-73—144).

Charles Cernoch (83-80—163) paced the Bronchos.
