HIGH SCHOOL GOLF: Monahans heading to state along with Williams, Johnson

The Monahans boys golf team earned a qualifying spot for the Class 4A state tournament after finishing in third place at the Region I-4A Tournament Thursday at Shadow Hills Golf Club.

Alonso Ruiz (73-69—142) finished third to lead the Loboes (306-314—620).

Argyle Black (291-286—577) and Canyon (299-310—609) also qualified.

Fort Stockton’s Alex Williams (75-66—141) and Seminole’s Cason Johnson (73-72—145) earned qualifying spots for the state tournament that will take place May 17 and 18 at Plum Creek Golf Club in Kyle. Andrews’ Carder Pool (71-77—148) finished seventh individually.
