HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Wink falls in third round contest against Stratford

LUBBOCK The Wink football team fell by a 56-21 score against Stratford in the third round of the Class 2A Division II playoffs Friday at Lowrey Field.

The Elks got out to a quick lead, jumping ahead 7-0 within the game’s opening minute and they extended that lead to 14-0 about two minutes later.

The Wildcats got the offense going to cut the Stratford lead to 14-6, but the Elks went on to score 14 more points after the score.

Stratford stayed in the lead and kept control throughout the rest of the contest to end Wink’s 2021 season.

The Wildcats closed out their campaign with a 9-4 mark, recording a five-game winning streak before the third round loss.
