HIGH SCHOOL CROSS COUNTRY: Lady Bronchos’ Perez leads area honorees

Odessa High’s Jazira Perez was among several Permian Basin cross country runners earning postseason honors from the Texas Girls Coaches Association Cross Country Committee.

The committee selected 24 runners from Class 5-6A and 24 runners from Class 1-4A.

Perez was the Odessa High girls top finisher at the District 2-6A meet and she represented the Lady Bronchos at the Region I meet in Lubbock.

Marfa’s Ummi Chanez was selected as a Class 1-4A All-Star, representing Class 1A.

Chanez placed fifth at the 1A irls state meet in November, competing alongside teammate Aundrea Garcia.

Wink’s Autumn Smith was named an All-Star in Class 2A after being the only girls runner to represent the Wildcats at the 2A state meet.

She finished in 15th.

The All-Star selections will be honored at the TGCA summer clinic.

Crane’s Raeley Howard and Pecos’ Kallie Bullard were named Legacy All-Star selections in Class 3A and 4A, respectively.

Howard placed 22nd at the Class 3A state meet and Bullard placed 24th in the 4A meet.
