ABILENE Midland Legacy sophomore Kellen Young and Monahans graduate and former Midland College golfer J.T. Pittman remained in the Top 10 following the second round of play at the West Texas Amateur Saturday on the South Course at Abilene Country Club.
Young sits tied for third at 3-under-par (71-70—141) with three other golfers while Pittman is one shot back (70-72—142) and is tied for seventh. Pittman is the defending champion of the event.
Texas Tech golfer Jansen Smith is tied for the lead at 8-under-par (71-65—136) after shooting a 65 Saturday for the low round of the championship.
Smith is tied with Midwestern State’s Garrett Leek (69-67—136) for the lead.
Odessa College golfer Will Adams (72-73—145) is tied for 15th.
The tournament concludes Sunday.
