CANYON The UTPB volleyball team won its opener, then dropped the second contest during the first day of competition at the Britkare Lady Buff Classic Friday at West Texas A&M.
The Falcons defeated Southwestern Oklahoma State, 21-25, 25-21, 25-19, 25-11, before falling to St. Edward’s, 25-22, 25-23, 21-25, 25-13.
Aquincia Strambler finished with a combined 31 kills on the day, including 19 against Southwestern Oklahoma State.
Setter Analise Lucio finished with 64 assists, with 45 in the opening match.
The Falcons (1-1) cap their two-day trip against Fort Lewis at 10:30 a.m., followed by a match against Adams State at 2 p.m.
