MIDLAND The Odessa College softball team got off to a good start at the Midland Classic, defeating Trinidad State and Snow College Friday at the Freddie Ezell Softball Complex.

In the first game, the Lady Wranglers earned a 10-1 victory against Trinidad State after scoring four runs in the fifth inning and five more in the seventh, with OHS alum Elva Castillo earning the victory.

Odessa College score twice in the seventh inning to earn an 11-10 victory in its season game, with Brittany Kennett getting the win and Castillo pitching a scoreless seventh inning for her first collegiate save.

Cami Deanda and Julyssa Hernandez each had three doubles on the day, with Castillo, Hernandez and Riana Salgado all hitting one home run.
