WOLFFORTH The Odessa College men’s basketball team couldn’t capitalize on a strong start Saturday, falling to South Plains College 101-92 in the NJCAA Region V Tournament Finals at the Tiger Pit.

Odessa College’s LJ Figueroa led all scorers with 27 points, followed by Keandre Cook, who had 21. Isaiah Maurice led South Plains College with 24 points.

Odessa College (28-3) only trailed by one at halftime. Both teams shot more than 50 percent from the field in the game.

South Plains College gets Region V’s automatic NJCAA Tournament berth with the victory. The Wranglers will have to wait until the bracket is released to see if they get an at-large spot.
