COLLEGE BASKETBALL: No. 6 UTPB men upset by Angelo State

SAN ANGELO The No. 6 UTPB men’s basketball team lost its first conference game Saturday afternoon as it fell to Angelo State 84-83.

The Falcons (14-2 overall, 6-1 Lone Star Conference) trailed by six at the half, but couldn’t muster enough in the second half to win the game. UTPB’s Daeshon Francis led all scorers with 30 points.

Down three with three seconds left, UTPB’s James McPherson had a chance to send the game to overtime with free throws, but missed the last of the trio to hand the Rams the victory.
