GRAND PRAIRIE Mack Mueller had two home runs and four RBIs, while Alex Palmer pitched seven solid innings Friday as Cisco College defeated Odessa College in the opening round of the NJCAA Region V baseball tournament at AirHog Stadium.
Cal Pequeno homered for Odessa College (33-24) and Deylan Moreno had an RBI single. Mueller finished 4 for 4 for Cisco (50-6), while Michael Hoehner was 3 for 4. Anthony Dominguez doubled and drove in two runs for Cisco, which took control with three runs in the fourth, two in the fifth and two in the seventh.
Palmer (11-1) struck out nine and was charged with two earned runs on five hits. Marc Luna (9-3) took the loss for Odessa College, allowing five runs on nine hits over 4.1 innings.
Odessa College meets WJCAC rival Howard College at 10 a.m. Saturday in an elimination game. Cisco College will play Grayson College at 5 p.m.
