COLLEGE SOFTBALL: Wranglers, Hawks split doubleheader for second straight day

The Odessa College softball team split a Western Junior College Athletic Conference doubleheader against Howard College for the second straight day. The Wranglers defeated the Hawks 11-2 in five innings in the first game and fell 10-2 in the second game Tuesday at Wrangler Field.

Reagan Hillis and Lauren Gonzales led Odessa College (31-9 overall, 20-6 conference) with three hits each in the first game. The Wranglers also got a strong start Aydenne Brown, who struck out eight and allowed just five hits in the opener.

Laela Minnich and Addison Marquez had two doubles each in the second game for the Hawks to help earn a series split. Howard College pitcher Jasmine Blizzard earned the victory in the second game with a complete-game effort.

Odessa College closes the regular season with a pair of doubleheaders against Frank Phillips College starting at 1 p.m. Friday in Borger.
