UTPB head softball coach Tiala Tagaloa was named a recipient of a 2021 Diversity Scholarship from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.
The award is given to coaching members of the association who commit to working with minorities and help the game of softball grow within their communities.
The funding from the award is used to send coaches to the 2021 NFCA National Convention, where they can go through educational seminars and interact with other attendees.
This year’s convention is set to take place from Dec. 8-11 at Caesar’s Forum in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Tagaloa took over the UTPB softball team in 2015 and is currently the longest tenured coach in the history of the program.
